As early as 2006, Al Gore* described global warming in his book "An Inconvenient Truth: The Planetary Emergency of Global Warming and What We Can Do About It ".

Climate protection and adaptation to climate change are a focus of political action in Brandenburg. For the first time, a ministry has climate protection in its name, underlining the importance of the issue for the state.

For the current legislative period, the three parties in the coalition have given the state government a series of work tasks with which Brandenburg will contribute to climate protection, especially the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The climate plan to be developed under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection (MLUK) is the big umbrella for this, in which all specialised ministries will participate with concrete measures.

Therefore, the topic of climate protection is also the central theme for the policy fields under the responsibility of the MLUK, the link for many interdisciplinary initiatives and measures.

With its modular word mark - known as the climate claim for short - the MLUK wants to emphasise that protecting and acting are two sides of the same coin that belong together when it comes to active, effective contributions to climate protection.
