Activities with Poland 2021
Expert meeting on the topic of the New European Bauhaus
The aim of the meeting was to promote cross-border cooperation between the scientific community and administrations on climate protection projects.
Professor Schellnhuber presented the "New European Bauhaus" agenda, which aims at a climate-friendly life for all! He called on the Polish partners to cooperate, especially in promoting timber construction, as he sees great potential here in the cross-border cooperation between the state of Brandenburg and the Lubuskie Voivodeship against the background of their considerable forest resources. A further meeting was agreed in Grünberg/Poland, at which, among other things, Professor Schellnhuber's "New Bauhaus Europe" model is to be presented to students at the University of Grünberg.
A Brandenburg-Polish cooperation within the framework of a European climate protection project was also discussed. Since the Polish partners are interested in participating, concrete documents are to be exchanged between the scientists after the meeting. The representative of the Marshal Office introduced the Brandenburgers to the "Smart Village" project included in the development strategy of the Lubuskie Voivodeship, which Professor Schellnhuber believes fits in well with the European model for implementing climate-friendly development.
