The objectives of the international cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection (MLUK) are:

  • Development and intensification of administrative cooperation based on partnership;
  • the priority country is Poland;
  • Exchange of experience and information as well as joint problem solving in the fields of rural development, environment and agriculture with the aim of developing a joint German-Polish border region;
  • Support of the international cooperation of third parties, such as Brandenburg associations, clubs, other interest groups; Selected exchanges of experience with third countries.

The Ministry sees itself here primarily as a mediator for:

  • the search for potential partners;
  • the integration of national interests in the design of international cooperation;
  • the idealistic support and lobbying;
  • support for specific projects; the focus here is on measures by municipal and private sponsors, particularly in the Brandenburg-Polish interdependent area.

The ministry is hereby participating in the implementation of the internationalisation strategy of the State of Brandenburg and is involved in the work of the Oder partnership. The activities and goals of the MLUK in German-Polish cooperation are part of the Brandenburg-Poland Neighborhood Strategy.
