Legal basis of German-Polish cooperation in the area of environment and agriculture
The main focus of the international cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection (MLUK - Ministeriums für Landwirtschaft, Umwelt und Klimaschutz) is the cooperation with Polish partners.
In addition, there are cooperation agreements with other priority countries, which are implemented on a project basis according to the current needs of the partners. International cooperation is regulated at various levels on the basis of treaties, agreements, or declarations:
- Treaty between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Poland on Good Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation of 17 June 1991.
- Agreement between the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Government of the Republic of Poland on the Establishment of the German-Polish Environmental Council of 17 June 1991
- Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents, adopted in Helsinki on 17 March 1992
- Agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Poland on Mutual Assistance in the Event of Disasters or Serious Accidents of 10 April 1992
- Treaty between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Poland on Cooperation in the Field of Water Management at the Boundary Waters of 19 May 1992
- Agreement between the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Government of the Republic of Poland on Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection of 7 April 1994
- Treaty on the International Commission for the Protection of the Oder against Pollution (IKSO) between Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, and the European Union of 11 April 1996
- Treaty on the Amendment of the Treaty on the International Commission for the Protection of the Oder against Pollution of 27 November 2008
- Agreement between the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Government of the Republic of Poland on the Implementation of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment in a Transboundary Context of 10 October 2018.
- Decision of the German-Polish Environmental Council on the Resumption of the Activities of the German-Polish Programme Council for the Transboundary Area in the Lower Oder Valley of 25 October 2016
- Joint Declaration on Cooperation in the Field of the Environment of the State of Brandenburg - represented by the Ministry of the Environment - with the West Pomeranian and Lubuskie Voivodeships of August 1999
- Agreement between the Environmental Agency of the State of Brandenburg and the Voivodeships of Lower Silesia and Lubuskie on the Exchange of Experts in the Event of Floods of 5 April 2000
